Help for Christian Abuse Survivors: You are Loved and Made in God’s Image
Caroline Abbott is a Christian woman and writer who was in an emotionally abusive marriage for twenty years. Once she broke free from her marriage, she trained to be a domestic violence advocate, then sought and received a master’s degree in Counseling Ministries. Her goal is to help others who are currently being or have been abused. Some of the ways she does this is via her Facebook page and through her books, A Journey through Emotional Abuse: from Bondage to Freedom and A Journey to Healing After Emotional Abuse, and her videos and written guide, Domestic Violence Guide for Churches.
Debbie Stafford is an approved, domestic violence treatment provider. (Watch her story below.) She has been counseling abusers for over twenty years. Married to an abusive pastor for ten years, she is now an ordained pastor herself. Debbie was a Colorado State Representative for eight years, passing bills impacting domestic violence.
Abusers continue to harm their victims by keeping them isolated. Becoming educated about abuse is a victim’s first defense. No one has the right to abuse you and you should never have to be afraid in your own home. There are many places and people available to help you. You can start by going to our Get Help page. There you will find helpful phone numbers, websites and books.
